We are looking for one or two volunteers to help our Inventory Specialist in preparing records for items that will be placed in auction. Specifically, the job would entail going through about 200 mobile radios and recording three specific numbers off of each. You would be working in the vehicle maintenance shop. Although the date is somewhat flexible, we are initially looking at Tuesday, February 10^th starting at 9AM.  Let me know if this is something you can help out with.

The Regional All Hazards Exercise will take place next week at the Govalle Waste Water Treatment facility in Austin on Linger Ln off of Hwy 183 N. It is a 3 day event, Oct 28-30, from 8-5 each day. There will be multiple scenarios running each day and has plenty of opportunities to engage volunteers wanting to participate as either role players or support staff. If anyone within your Alumni Association is interested please determine their availability and let me know so I can coordinate the task that best suites their schedule. Thanks so much.

Hays County Sheriff’s Office SWAT will be conducting a training exercise on Thursday, Aug. 29th starting at 4:00p at the ALERRT Center Training Grounds, 1285 William Pettus Rd., San Marcos. Volunteers are needed for about an hour.

We have a big volunteer project that we’re looking to get help with, and someone here mentioned maybe having police officers volunteer to help out. I wonder if you can point me in the right direction or let me know if this is a possibility.

What we’re planning on is to clear out the old wood mulch around the playscape at the shelter during the week of September 6-11. That’s about 5 days in which to shovel out the wood mulch, wheel barrow it to a trailer, and replace the plastic lining beneath. The area is about 40 X 40 feet, and there is anywhere from 2-6 inches of mulch throughout the playscape.

The HCSO is looking for volunteers on Friday, August 16 from 12:00p – 5:00p. This will be a School Resource Officer (SRO) Active Shooter course. If you do decide to participate I strongly encourage you to HYDRATE, wear protective clothing i.e. long sleeve shirts pants and comfortable shoes. I do not know exactly what role you will be playing but expect just about anything to take place.

Constable Peterson is asking for 6 Alumni members that could assist with the Texas Natural & Western Swing Festival on Friday, May 17th starting at 3:00p at the Freeman Ranch. He will need your assistance with serving food. If you are able to help out, please call Constable Peterson at 512-738-2583.
