Sunshine Kids T-Shirts, Spaghetti Dinners, and more

Sunshine Kids T-shirts are now on sale for $10.00 (they are the bright ones similar to the orange one). If you are interested in placing an order, let me know so I can pass it on to Lt. Gutierrez. The shirts will need to be paid for before May 15th so that the order can be placed at that time.

On to the big news… At our April meeting, it was decided we will be holding a fundraiser to benefit the Sunshine Kids while they are here for their Hill County Adventure. We will be selling Spaghetti Dinner Plates, consisting of spaghetti, salad, roll, cookie and a drink for $7.00. It will be held on Thursday, May 22nd from 11:00am – 2:00pm at the Hays County Government Center Café. We are going to need as much help as we can get so I will make sure a sign up is posted on our website within the next week. We have pre-sale tickets available so if you would like to sell some, please let me know and I will get some to you. This event has great potential and may be something we do again for Brown Santa.

Have a great day and there will be more information to come!

Press Release: 2013 Brown Santa

HAYS COUNTY BROWN SANTA LOOKING FOR CHRISTMAS ELVES

The Hays County Brown Santa program has started its annual drive for money, food, and toys to assist families in need in Hays County. The program consists of volunteers from the Hays County Sheriff’s Office and members of the community. Brown Santa seeks donations from local businesses and citizens for toys, canned goods and money. Last year over 850 families were given assistance in food and/or toys in Hays County.

Brown Santa is accepting new toys for children up to the age of 16. Any toy that is already gift-wrapped needs to have a tag that identifies the toy, age group, and if it is for a male or female. Toys can also be picked up from your residence or business if convenient. Money contributions in the form of a check or money order made payable to “Brown Santa” can be mailed to:

Brown Santa
P.O. Box 1475
San Marcos, TX 78667

The deadline for accepting unwrapped toys will be December 13, 2013 and for wrapped toys December 16, 2013. All toys will be wrapped on December 14, 2013 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Children are welcome in the warehouse to help out!

Deputies and helpers will be delivering the toys and food on Saturday December 21, 2013 from 7:00 am until approximately 12:00 noon. Volunteer Opportunity: Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center

We have a big volunteer project that we’re looking to get help with, and someone here mentioned maybe having police officers volunteer to help out. I wonder if you can point me in the right direction or let me know if this is a possibility.

What we’re planning on is to clear out the old wood mulch around the playscape at the shelter during the week of September 6-11. That’s about 5 days in which to shovel out the wood mulch, wheel barrow it to a trailer, and replace the plastic lining beneath. The area is about 40 X 40 feet, and there is anywhere from 2-6 inches of mulch throughout the playscape.
