The Sunshine Kids Foundation was founded by Rhoda Tomasco in 1982 while she was serving as a volunteer in the pediatric cancer unit of a hospital in Houston, Texas. After seeing the loneliness and depression among children during their extended hospital treatments, Rhoda had a vision to provide these young cancer patients with opportunities to participate in positive group activities which promoted self-esteem, personal accomplishment and just plain old-fashioned fun! Today, that vision has been realized many times over, as thousands of children from hospitals across the country have reaped the benefits of The Sunshine Kids Foundation’s many programs and national and regional events. The Sunshine Kids continues, as it has since its inception, to provide all of its activities completely free of charge to the children and their families.

We look forward to the day when The Sunshine Kids Foundation will no longer need to exist. Until that time, the entire Sunshine Kids family is dedicated to our goal of providing the most exciting activities, trips and opportunities for as many young cancer patients as possible.

The Hays County Citizens Sheriff’s Academy Alumni Association (HCCSAAA) and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) are proud to host The Sunshine Kids Texas Hill County Adventure every June.

From the time they arrive until the time they leave, we have numerous exciting activities for the kids. First, all the kids will be sworn in by Sheriff Anothony Hipolito and each kid will become a Deputy Sheriff. They will each receive a Deputy Sheriff’s badge and a certificate. Just a few of the activities planned are a trip to SeaWorld, Schlitterbahn Water Park, pizza night with bingo and great prizes, dinner at Texas Roadhouse, and a trip to the State Capitol with a police escort.

Your support is greatly appreciated by purchasing one of our delicious cheeseburger plates or by making a monetary contribution to help support some of these activities. We will accept cash, Venmo, or checks. Checks should be made payable to HCCSAAA.

The Hays County Citizens Sheriff’s Academy Alumni Association and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office appreciate your contribution. The Hays County Citizens Sheriff’s Academy Alumni Association is a 501(c)(3) so your purchase or donation may qualify as a tax deduction (please check with your tax advisor).
