Ordering Shirts

Here is a link to the sample shirts we showed at the meeting last night (07/20/2021). Information about each shirt is included with pricing information. We will be preparing a list to order so if you would like to get in on this round of
ordering, please let me know which shirt(s) you would like to purchase.

Link to Sample Shirts

Note: I have the list from those of you who inquired at the meeting.

These are straight pricing structures. The HCCSAAA does not mark-up the pricing and does not profit from these sales. Therefore, payment is due when order is placed. A price break of $1 is provided over 36 shirts. However, since we have several shirt options, I don’t think we would meet that number.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or if you would like to order a shirt.

We will be placing an order early August so if you would like to get in on that round of ordering, please let me know ASAP. Turn-around time is approximately 2 weeks once order has been placed.

Good day Alumni!

As discussed previously, we are hoping to schedule the PSB Greeter Training; it looks like the best week for training will be the week of August 23rd. The specific date and time will be provided once confirmed; training shouldn’t take too long maybe 1-2 hours max. Volunteers will also have a security check conducted prior to starting. At this point, please look at your calendar and let me know if you are available that week and what day/time might work best for you. We currently have 4 people interested in serving as Greeters; it would be fantastic if we could get more volunteers to ensure we have sufficient coverage.

PSB Greeter Volunteer needs:
2 shifts per day, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday
(can be split between different volunteers)

This is a great opportunity for Alumni volunteers to support the Sheriff’s Department; and it should be fun!

Please contact me if you have questions or are interested in serving as a Greeter at the PSB. Will provide update as soon as date/time has been confirmed.

Thank you!

Run For The Badge

Alumni!

Please check out the link from Jeffrey Jordan (President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Hill Country Lodge #23…and one of our very own HCSO heroes) for Run for the Badge; this is a great opportunity to raise money for the National Law Enforcement Memorial. Our fine men and women in Law Enforcement who have paid the ultimate price should always be remembered and never forgotten.

Below is the link Jeffrey Jordan set up for Run for the Badge. He has done this for the last 2 years, and last year was the first year he raised money for the National Law Enforcement Memorial. He raised over $500.

This year, Jeffrey set a goal of raising $1000. He set up the team Remembering Hays County’s Finest. It automatically set a goal of raising $2,000.

Registration is $40 for the virtual run/walk and counts towards the total raised. Runners/walkers receive a numbered bib, a medal, and t-shirt. Anyone who wishes to register to participate, please search for and join the team Remembering Hays County’s Finest. If there is a big enough group, we could probably make arrangements to do this as a group and create a route near the Government Center in San Marcos.

This would be a great way to get together and do something outside of our Alumni meetings which is something we talked about at the meeting last night.
Let’s do this! It should be fun and is an amazing way to pay honor to the fallen! Who’s in?

Looking forward to getting to know everyone and working together to provide the very best support to the HCSO! Very informative presentation from Bruce Harlan about the new constitutional carry law; interesting to hear the differences between ‘Constitutional Carry’ and ‘License to Carry’. Congratulations to our newly elected Executive Board Members: Ruth Diamond, Secretary; and, Steve Meyer, Vice-President!

Welcome from the President

Greetings! In my new role as HCCSA Alumni Association President, I would like to welcome everyone to a new year filled with boundless possibilities! The February meeting was a great opportunity for members to collaborate and provide input on how the Association would like to move forward in the upcoming year; thank you to those who were able to attend. We also received a grand tour of the new Public Safety Building and it is awesome!

In thinking about what the Association would like to do; we must remember why we are here: “The purpose of the Alumni Association is to bring together graduates of the Hays County Citizens Sheriff’s Academy to enhance relations between the community and the Sheriff’s Office. The Alumni Association will assist, support and promote special projects that strengthen the services provided by the Sheriff’s Office”.

There are many of you who have been members for quite a long time and have had the opportunity to participate in various ways; there are others that may be newer and aren’t fully aware of what the Association is all about. In order to best serve the Alumni Association, I am interested in hearing from members about what the Association means to you, what do you like about it? what do you think we could do better? etc. We’ll be sending out a survey to all members with these questions, as well as others, to get a feel for what is working well and what we can build upon. It’s a great opportunity to make tweaks where needed to ensure we are fulfilling our purpose and that members are energized and excited about all of the great things we can accomplish when we work together.

COVID really threw a wrench into 2020 and hindered many activities and services; it appears the world is slowly getting back to some sort of normalcy and folks are taking the necessary precautions to remain safe and healthy. Being that the Association didn’t have regular meetings last year, we may be a bit slow out of the gate, but it is a great time to review and take inventory of where we are and where we are headed.
If you haven’t joined us in quite some time, please consider doing so. We have a great speaker lined up for the March meeting and many volunteer opportunities available; the newest being ‘greeters’ at the new Public Safety Building which is where we are now holding our Alumni Association meetings.

Speaking of volunteer opportunities, several members attended the Court Security Scenarios this week and it was amazing! Volunteering for these types of activities are extremely beneficial in assisting LEOs with vital training; not only does it assist the LEOs, but we as volunteers can learn a great deal about what our fine LEOs endure on a day-to-day basis. I would highly recommend volunteering for these types of opportunities as they are great fun and they truly assist, support, and strengthen the services provided by the Sheriff’s Office!

I look forward to serving the Alumni Association to the best of my abilities and to support and serve those who dedicate their lives to serving us!

Respectfully,

Cathy Gieselman, President
HCCSAAA
