Sheriff Gary Cutler is proud to announce that the Hays County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications to the second Advanced Citizens Sheriff’s Academy Course. The academy starts on February 25, 2016 and will conclude on April 7, 2016. The academy consists of seven weeks of courses designed to give those who had already gone through the Basic Citizens Academy Course more knowledge about Hays County law enforcement operations and current issues.
Participants attending the academy will have open discussions with presenters. Presentations will include information from the Hays County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, Medical Examiner’s Office and Sheriff’s Office personnel. Topics will include: Fraud and Identity Theft, Crimes against Children, Sex Crimes, Auto-Theft Investigations, Polygraphs, Active Shooter Response for Civilians, and Death Scene Investigations.
The Advanced Citizens Academy Course is also open to those that have completed the basic course. Courses will be held at the Hays County Sheriff’s Office located at 1307 Uhland Road, San Marcos on Thursdays from 6:00p until 9:00p. There will be one Saturday class.
