Volunteer Opportunity: SWAT Training Scenario

Was wondering if you would hit up your academy alumni and see if they (approximately 14 of them or whatever I can get) can participate as role players in a training evolution on November 1st from about 9am-noon. Let me know what else I need to do. This is for a joint SWAT scenario near the airport with APD and HCSO SWAT.

The Alumni has an opportunity on Friday, September 22nd, to help the Sheriff’s Office. This is the annual Sheriff’s “Scramble Fore Kids” Benefit Golf Tournament, which supports the youth of Hays County. They are expecting around 120 golfers this year.

Breakfast tacos and sausage wraps for volunteers.

2:00pm, for 3 hours to help serve, clean up and breakdown the tables and chairs.

Please reply to Dennis, Mark, Stephen or me, if you can assist.

Citizens Sheriff’s Academy Graduation (Spring 2017)

Alumni,

I’m back in Texas and hope everyone had a great April.

Wanted to let you know, the Alumni meeting scheduled for Tuesday May 16, has been cancelled, due to the current Citizens Academy graduation on Thursday, May 18th. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 20th.

Instead of providing pizza, we are reverting to our old Alumni Pot Luck Dinner. Andy has agreed to provide the meat and we need volunteers to provide the salads, sides and desserts.

As the final numbers are still pending, an estimate of about 60 (students, guests, Sheriff Office and Alumni).

    Assuming 60 people, we need:

  • 4 salads (green, pasta, potato)
  • 8 Sides (beans, vegetable, potato, bread)
  • 6 desserts (cookies, cakes, pies)

I need to know by 12:00 Noon, on Friday, May 12, to allow time to notify those who volunteered, what to bring.

First: Are you planning on attending?
Second: What can you bring? Provide choice #1 and Choice #2 of the above?

Thanks in advance for your service

Wayne Kendrick, President

Volunteer Opportunity: Track Meet @ Texas State University

Fundraiser for KidSight program on Sept 17-18 at the Texas State University Track Complex in San Marcos. It’s a track meet called Texas vs The World, and we expect some top notch athletes to compete. All the net proceeds go to KidSight, which as you know provides state of the art free eye screenings for younger kids.

So we need volunteers to help the officials running the meet with various track tasks: timing, measuring, setting out hurdles, etc. No experience necessary and we would certainly give your group shout outs over the PA system, as well as acknowledgement in the program.

If you can get the word out to your members, we would be most appreciative. Here is the link with the signup times and shifts.

Many thanks!
